Startup accelerator running programmes for early-stage and scaling technology founders in the North East of England

A seed-stage venture capital firm founded in 2007, one of the earliest in its home market

Bon Angels, founded in 2007, describes itself as one of the earliest venture capital firms in its home market specialising in early-stage investment. It has invested in around 270 startups to date, with five reaching unicorn status, 22 acquired through mergers, and two completing initial public offerings. One of its current funds drew more than half of its capital from limited partners who are themselves founders the firm previously backed. Alongside seed investment, the firm runs an accelerator programme and has extended its investing overseas, backing more than 50 startups abroad. It also operates follow-on funds intended to support portfolio companies through later financing rounds, and is an operating company under the TIPS programme for early-stage technology ventures.
