A technology and software investment firm operating since 1983, backing companies from startup to market leader across six offices. Currently investing a $3.25bn fifteenth fund.
Battery Ventures is a technology and software-focused investment firm that has been investing in technology companies globally since 1983. It describes itself as thesis-driven, and backs founders and teams at all stages of growth, from startups to established market leaders — which makes it one of the genuinely stage-agnostic firms rather than one that specialises early or late. Its stated sectors are application software, infrastructure software, consumer, and industrial technology with life-science tools. It runs six offices: Boston, San Francisco, Menlo Park, Tel Aviv, London and New York. On its own site the firm states that it is currently investing from its fifteenth flagship fund, Battery Ventures XV, capitalised at $3.25 billion, and that it has invested in more than 450 companies over its forty-year history. Both are the firm's own figures. A fund size is not the same thing as assets under management and is not recorded as one.
