Accel is a venture capital firm and one of the longest-established names in the industry. It describes itself on its own site as the "first partner to exceptional teams everywhere", which is a statement of where it prefers to come in — early, and as the first institutional investor in a company. It is listed here because it was absent from this catalogue entirely: the only entry carrying the name was an unrelated events business.
