TDengine is a time-series database for IoT and industrial data, with stream processing and analytics components. It is developed by TDengine, also known as TAOS Data, and the repository licence file is AGPL-3.0, a copyleft open-source licence that buyers embedding or modifying the software should review. It can be run self-managed or as TDengine Cloud, which is available on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. The commercial editions are TDengine Enterprise and Cloud, and licensing is based on tags. The latest release is ver-3.4.1.6, dated 30 April 2026. Pricing is as follows. Self-hosted use is free up to 5,000 tags. Cloud costs $970 a month for 5,000 tags, rising to $5,220 for 80,000 tags, and annual licences are quoted at, for example, $46,000 for 100,000 tags. Because the free tier and the paid prices are tied to the number of tags, buyers should estimate their tag count early, since it determines which tier applies. TDengine suits teams collecting device and sensor data who want one product covering storage, stream processing and analysis, and who are comfortable with tag-based licensing for the commercial editions.
