Draftware Inc. develops software for engineers who still hold drawings in older Computervision and PTC CAD formats. Since 1988 its products have let users open, print and convert CADDS 4X, CADDS 5 and Personal Designer data directly, without keeping the original CAD systems running.

What Draftware Inc. offers

• DraftView for CADDS — views, prints and translates CADDS 4X and CADDS 5 designs without intermediate conversions or CADDS licences, supporting 2D, 3D, explicit and parametric entities.
• DraftView for Personal Designer — a Windows application for viewing, printing and exporting DRW drawings, including files from Personal Machinist, microCADDS, MicroDraft and 4Design.
• DXF translation — converts Personal Designer drawings to DXF.
• Other tools — the DV-CADDS API, ckCAD for CADDS, ViewStation for Medusa and PolyWare for medical use.
• Services — CAD translation work and X-ray image analysis.

Who it works with

Its users are engineering teams with archives of legacy CAD data; staff quoted on its site work at Ingersoll-Rand and Halliburton. It also hosts forums for past and present CADDS and Personal Designer users.
