Anchorpoint for Lore
A free visual desktop client for Lore, the open-source version control system Epic built for games and media: review changes, branch and sync large Unreal projects, and diff assets, 3D models, audio and video.
About this launch
Anchorpoint for Lore is a desktop application for Lore, the open-source version control system Epic Games announced this year for the media and entertainment industry, which works much like Git but is built around the large binary files that make up most game and film projects. Anchorpoint, which already sells a Git client for artists, released it on 21 September 2026. It is aimed at the people on a production who are not developers: it shows the team's changes visually with thumbnails, is designed for trunk-based workflows, and compares versions not only of code but of Unreal assets, 3D models, audio and video. The company says Lore's chunking cuts upload and download times for projects with gigabytes of data and millions of files, and that switching branches becomes quick; those are its own statements and have not been measured here. The desktop application is free and, the company says, will always be free to use with a team's own Lore servers; a managed hosting service is planned but not yet priced. For a studio the practical point is that Lore itself is open source, so the client adds no lock-in of its own, while the hosting — for now — is the studio's job. One caveat about what this is: the company says the new application will become version 2.0 of Anchorpoint, with the same Git support its current product has, so it is both a new client for Lore and the future of the existing product.
