In 2010 we launched Germany's first reward-based crowdfunding platform, pling *. The platform was aimed at creative project founders and gave hundreds of people the necessary financial means to make their dreams come true: the brothers Paul and Hansen realized a bicycle tour from Berlin to Shanghai, Chris realized the dream of his own computer game, Nole produced her design lamp in small series. We were fascinated by the idea that we could democratize financing processes using technology and a “swarm” of financing processes. We successfully operated pling * for more than two years and provided six-figure sums to creative project starters. Word of the success has got around and we sold pling * to a new owner.
