
For decades, locating objects outdoors has no longer been a technical challenge thanks to compact GPS navigation devices. Unlike outdoors, locating objects indoors is a much more demanding task, especially since the signals from the GPS satellite cannot get into a building. Even under optimal conditions, it is not possible to locate objects with GPS with centimeter accuracy. For example, if people are to be located in a supermarket, this would not be possible with GPS.
