description

Founded by Denis Dyack in January 2018. Although most people associate Apocalypse with the destruction of the world, it is actually an ancient Greek term meaning “to reveal the unknown.” The name Apocalypse was coined in November 2017 by Denis and his good friend Tomo Itagaki (Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden). Shortly after, Apocalypse Studios Inc. opened its doors in Niagara and hired its first employees.

Apocalypse plans on exploring bold new landscapes for games. Through a combination of private investment, publishing and marketing partners, we intend to scale up video game development and make a significant impact on the marketplace. Apocalypse is partnered with Amazon, AMD, Project Deimos, and several other innovative technology groups to explore the medium of video games like never before.

Denis was the founder and president of Silicon Knights, one of the world’s most successful independent developers, which operated for over 27 years and employed over 230 full-time people in Niagara. Denis created and led an unprecedented string of video game hits including Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, Metal Gear: Solid Twin Snakes, and Too Human. He has received countless industry and business awards and was inducted into the Canadian Developers Hall of Fame in 2011. While having a background in Computer Science, (M. Sc. Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, and User Interfaces) he is also known for his creativity and writing, which helped Eternal Darkness win an “Outstanding Achievement in Story or Character Development” award from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences in 2003.

Apocalypse is working with several experienced academic colleagues throughout North America with the goal of changing the way people play games. Apocalypse focuses on Free To Play online multiplayer games with a “Games as a Service” approach.
