The Browser Company of New York makes Dia, a Chromium-based desktop browser with an AI assistant that works across open tabs and connected work apps, and is retiring its earlier browser, Arc.
The Browser Company of New York builds web browsers. It says its aim is to build better ways to use the internet, starting with the browser, and it now concentrates on Dia, a desktop browser for macOS and Windows, after announcing the retirement of its earlier browser, Arc. Its Dia security pages state that the company is part of Atlassian.
Dia is built on the open-source Chromium engine. Its central feature is an AI assistant that works across the tabs a user has open and the work apps they connect, including Slack, Notion, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Linear and Figma: it can answer questions from that context, produce a morning summary of calendar and inbox, and draft reports or slide decks. Other features include Profiles for separating work and personal browsing, automatically named tab groups, split views and meeting pages that open agendas and notes before a call. Dia blocks ads and trackers by default, stores data locally unless sync is turned on, in which case sync is end-to-end encrypted, and offers a paid Dia Pro tier.
Arc, the company's first browser, introduced a vertical sidebar and Spaces. New Arc accounts closed on 22 October 2026 and Arc stops working on macOS and Windows on 22 December 2026, with an import path into Dia.
Knowledge workers and teams who spend most of the day in web applications. Dia for Work adds single sign-on and admin controls, and organisations can switch off content sharing for all users. The company runs a bug bounty programme through HackerOne.
