Restate raises $20 million Series A for durable execution of workflows and AI agents
Restate, a durable-execution infrastructure company reported by Tech.eu as Berlin-based, announced a $20 million Series A on 30 September…
Restate develops a low-latency application runtime that provides durable execution, keyed state, queues, RPC, timers and flow control in a single binary. Its purpose is to let developers write agents, workflows and microservices whose code survives failures without hand-written retry and ordering logic. The runtime is built around a distributed log and offers building blocks called durable functions, workflows and virtual objects, with software development kits for TypeScript, Python, Java and Go. The company says it adds only milliseconds of overhead per durable action and offers three ways to run it: as open-source, self-hosted software, as the managed Restate Cloud, which is free to start, and as Restate BYOC, which is managed inside the customer's own cloud account. The about page says the team created Apache Flink and includes engineers from Meta's event infrastructure, and that the aim is to make durable execution a common building block for applications. The site quotes the president of Replit on its use for agent orchestration and describes ERP workflow and bank treasury use cases without naming every customer. It also announces a 20 million dollar Series A.
