Password Sentry

Password Sentry, which trades as PasswordSentry, is an open-source security application for websites that protect member areas with passwords. It watches logins to spot when one account's password is being shared between several people and blocks that access. It also defends login pages against dictionary and brute-force guessing.

What Password Sentry offers

• Password-sharing detection: a proprietary geographic tracking method that flags and blocks accounts used from suspicious locations.
• AuthForm plugin: form-based login that stops automated password-guessing.
• ProxyVPN plugin: detects and blocks visitors arriving through proxies or VPNs.
• InterLinking plugin: single sign-on links between separate websites.
• Bandwidth monitoring: tracks and throttles how much bandwidth each user consumes.
• Access blocking: restricts users by IP address or by country.
