Australian online and face-to-face clinical education for health professionals, with the MedLuma AI clinical knowledge platform.
Medcast is an Australian provider of continuing professional development for health professionals. Its history page says it was founded by Dr Stephen Barnett in 2013 and that it acquired the long-running Critical Care Education Services in 2018. The offer combines online courses, webinars, podcasts and events with face-to-face sessions, including nationally accredited resuscitation courses (BLS, ALS and PALS) held in cities such as Melbourne and Brisbane. Medcast Plus is a subscription for CPD, and the company runs learning hubs such as the free Quality Use of Medicines hub (QHUB) and VETs HeLP, a veterans' health education platform funded by the Australian Government's Department of Veterans' Affairs. It also provides team learning and resuscitation programmes for organisations, government and non-government bodies. MedLuma is its AI-enabled clinical knowledge platform for Australian healthcare, described as returning relevant clinical information with references to verified original sources at the point of care and turning questions into CPD. The home page states that Best Practice Software led a 5.4 million dollar capital raise in Medcast to expand this clinical AI work.
