FrontBase

FrontBase makes a relational database server for demanding production use, from internet appliances and dynamic websites to intranets and application service provider set-ups. It is meant to sit inside business applications as well as to power web and intranet systems, with little upkeep once running.

What FrontBase offers

• Small footprint — the server takes up less than two megabytes and is designed to install in roughly ten minutes.
• Clustering and replication — spreads load for scalability and speed, and runs on a range of platforms.
• SQL92 compliance — follows the SQL92 standard and works with a variety of EOF adapters.
• Unicode support — handles international text for deployments outside one language.
• Low administration — needs very little ongoing database administration after set-up.

Who it works with

FrontBase targets organisations running mission-critical systems, including makers of internet appliances, operators of dynamic websites and intranets, and application service providers.
