Audacity

Audacity is a multi-track audio editor and recorder that anyone can download and use without payment. Its source code is open, and a worldwide community of volunteers helps develop it. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and suits people making music, podcasts or simple edits.

What Audacity offers

• Recording — captures live sound through a microphone or mixer, or digitises audio from other media.
• Editing — cut, copy, paste and delete, with unlimited undo and redo within a session.
• File handling — imports, combines and exports many audio formats, including several files at once.
• Plug-in support — works with LADSPA, LV2, Nyquist, VST, VST3 and Audio Unit effects, with real-time preview for many of them.
