Nous Research

Nous Research is an AI research organisation whose stated mission is to create and spread open access to intelligence. On its site it presents itself as leading the American open source movement in AI, and its research covers agents, model architecture, data synthesis, fine-tuning and reasoning.

Its main product is Hermes Agent, an open source agent harness released under the MIT license. The company says Hermes has a built-in learning loop: it creates skills from experience, improves while it is used and builds a profile of the user across sessions. Hermes can be installed from the terminal, and there is a Hermes Desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux.
