Calabash Animation

Calabash Animation, trading as CALABASH, is an animation studio in Chicago, Illinois. It works in every style from computer-generated visual effects to motion design and hand-drawn cel animation, drawing on directors and artists based around the world.

What Calabash Animation does

• Commercial animation: animated adverts featuring brand characters, including new characters and updates to classic ones.
• 2D and 3D animation: drawn, digital and computer animation, stop motion and mixed media.
• Visual effects and motion design: VFX and motion graphics for TV, film and online use.
• Short films and feature work: original shorts and animation for feature films.
• Explainer and whiteboard videos: along with logo animation, storyboards and pre-visualisation.

Clients

The studio has animated brand characters such as Lucky the Leprechaun, Charlie the Tuna, the Trix Rabbit, Green Giant, Mr. Clean and the Keebler Elves. Its film credits include Space Jam, Big Idea's Jonah and On the Shoulders of Giants. It is now also exploring gaming, social media, AI-generated animation and immersive entertainment.
