Recurse is a serverless harness for building and running specialist AI agents, from Synnada, shown by its makers on 25 September 2026. A developer tells their coding agent what the task is and how success will be measured; the coding agent then uses Recurse to generate, run and compare variants of an agent — a system prompt plus Python functions as tools, pinned in a manifest with input and output schemas — until one meets the bar. The chosen agent is deployed as a tool, an MCP server or a bot, and every successful run returns output that matches the declared schema. The makers say they built it for their own client work on agents with a fixed request and response, especially in domains where a result can be checked; their blog carries case studies from August 2026 on game level design. Pricing on its own page is pay per request with no subscription: model calls are charged at the model providers’ token rates, currently with no markup, and serverless execution costs $0.013 a minute; new accounts start with $5 of credit. It is listed as “Recurse by Synnada” because the name is shared with unrelated organisations, including the Recurse Center.
