At Better Business Accountants we are all about people and relationships.

Andrew took over the practice from his father Jack in 1993 after three years with Deloitte He enjoys getting to know a client’s business, and helping them develop and grow into successful ventures “It is this area I enjoy the most, particularly when clients get a ‘win’ and I know I played a small part in making that happen”, says Andrew

In his spare time, Andrew spends time with his wife and three boys He is a member of the Otago Squash Club and Treasurer for the Rotary Club of St Kilda

“Did you hear about the mathematician who was afraid of negative numbers? He’ll stop at nothing to avoid them”, chuckles Andrew

Lynn joined the practice in the late 1990s after graduating from Otago University and working at Peat Marwick for seven years

Lynn believes that part of an accountant’s job is to improve clients work-life balance To her, it’s all about helping them stress a little less, leaving them more time to do what they love outside of the office Lynn strives to get to the bottom of a problem, and is always interested in advising businesses on how to improve systems and make their businesses more efficient

Out of work, Lynn spends her time looking after her family She's also into puzzles  – she likes the problem solving aspect of making the pieces fit together That’s a bit like accounting – looking through the finances to discover how you can fit all the parts of a business together to make it run smoothly

Lynn’s problem solving and ‘investigator’ flair is portrayed by her favourite joke - “What do you call an alligator in a vest?” Karen is our administration and support superstar here at Better Business She had many years working in the industry, including roles both in New Zealand and overseas After working with us a few years back, Karen is back at Better Business, working as part of our great team

Out of work, Karen is kept busy with her daughter, and looking after the  cats,  dogs,  chooks and sheep on her lifestyle block in Waikouaiti
