Travel focused marketing platform Scott M Bilyeu is the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer of Triangle Peak Partners, LP He has spent the majority of his career managing the accounting and back office operations of investment management firms Prior to joining Triangle Peak, Scott was the Chief Financial Officer for Abingdon Capital Management, a McLean, Virginia-based hedge fund serving the investment needs of institutions and high net worth individuals While there he introduced a number of refinements to the firm’s operations and control environment
From October 1995 to January 2005, he worked for EGM Capital, a registered investment advisor and hedge fund manager located in San Francisco He began his career with EGM as its Controller, primarily focusing on the accounting and related activities of the management company He later became the firm’s Chief Financial Officer, responsible for all financial aspects of the firm, including the establishment and maintenance of operational and financial controls for the firm’s pooled investment funds
Previously, Scott was an internal auditor for Allstate Insurance Corp He also was an audit and tax associate for Clifton, Gunderson & Co , a nationwide accounting and consulting firm based in Peoria, Illinois
In 1993, Scott received a B A in Accounting from Illinois Wesleyan University and was registered by the Illinois Board of Examiners as a Certified Public Accountant after successfully completing the CPA exam
Dain F DeGroff is a co-founding partner of Triangle Peak Partners, LP and serves as President He has experience working with private and public companies, providing strategic, process, and financing advice Prior to Triangle Peak, he served as a Managing Director with Fort Mason Capital, where he conducted private, direct investments in private and public companies, focusing on the Technology, Alternative Energy, and Energy sectors
Prior to Fort Mason, Dain was an investment banker at both Hambrecht & Quist and JP Morgan, where he executed numerous M&A, debt and equity transactions in the technology sector and also led both firms’ global efforts in mobile and wireless technologies Prior to his banking experience, he was a consultant for Accenture Consulting in its Technology practice Before entering the workforce, Dain completed the U S Navy’s Nuclear Engineering program and served as a U S Navy Submarine officer on a fast-attack submarine
He serves as a board member for Nozomi Networks, Aerospike and Bugcrowd, and as a board observer for ACME Technologies, AlphaSense, PCH, Skedulo, Sojern, SnapLogic and Suzy
He received an M B A from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B S in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University

Zach P Kaufman joined Triangle Peak Partners, LP in April 2009 Prior to joining Triangle Peak, Zach was a senior associate with Perry-Smith, LLP, a regional public accounting firm based in Sacramento, California, where he lead audit teams serving clients in the governmental, construction, manufacturing, non-profit, and financial industries
He began his career in accounting as office manager for M & K Builders, Inc , a construction company in California’s Central Valley
Zach received his B A in Accounting from University of the Pacific in 2006 and is a Certified Public Accountant
James T McCartt joined Triangle Peak Partners, LP in June 2008 He brings experience in two areas to the firm As an attorney with Baker Botts LLP, then as a partner with Susman Godfrey LLP in Houston, Jim has practiced substantial business litigation He has also worked as an equity analyst with Fayez Sarofim & Co , where he primarily covered firms in the financial sector
Jim received an A B in Economics from Harvard College, a J D from Harvard Law School, and an M B A from MIT’s Sloan School of Management He is a member of the Texas and California bars Jim is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
Michael C Morgan is a co-founding partner of Triangle Peak Partners, LP and serves as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Since 2004, he has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Portcullis Partners, LP, a private investment partnership and one of Triangle Peak’s largest Limited Partners Mike currently serves on the boards of three public companies navigating the transition to a more sustainable energy future He is the former president and current lead director at Kinder Morgan (NYSE:KMI), one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America He is a current director and former lead director of Sunnova (NYSE:NOVA), a leading residential solar and energy storage company He also serves as director of Stem (NYSE:STEM), which combines advanced energy storage with a world-class AI-powered analytics platform
He joined Kinder Morgan at its founding in 1997 and headed Kinder Morgan’s corporate development efforts until 2001, completing 23 acquisitions worth over $5 billion He then served as President of KMI until 2004 In 2006, he participated in the management buyout of KMI and then its return to the public markets via IPO in 2011 During that period, KMI grew from 150 employees to over 10,000 and from $300mm of enterprise value to over $70bn Mike has served continuously on the board of KMI and its predecessors since 2003
Mike previously served on the boards of four public companies: as chairman of Star Peak Energy Transition Corp (NYSE:STPK) until its $1 3bn merger with Stem, and as chairman of Star Peak Corp II (NYSE:STPC) until its $1 7bn merger with Benson Hill, a sustainability-focused food technology company He also served as a director of two public energy funds affiliated with Kayne Anderson (NYSE: KYN and KYE)
Mike is a frequent volunteer at Stanford University, currently serving as the national chair of The Stanford Fund, and as co-chair of the advisory council for the Precourt Institute for Energy In addition, he serves on the DAPER Fund and the Stanford LEAD Council He has previously served on the GSB Management Board, the Undergraduate Cabinet, and the Parents’ Advisory Board Mike co-chaired the development committee for his 20th, 25th and 30th reunions In recognition of his service, Mike received the Stanford Associates Governors’ Award
Mike earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and both a BA in Economics and an MA in Sociology from Stanford University He previously served as an Adjunct Professor in the Practice of Management at the Jones School of Business at Rice University
David L Pesikoff is a Co-Founding Partner of Triangle Peak Partners, LP and serves as President He was a Principal at Fayez Sarofim & Co from 1998 until early 2008, first joining the company in 1994 The Sarofim firm is one of the largest private investment counselors in the country with over $30 billion under management when David left to found Triangle Peak Partners He had most recently served as the firm’s portfolio strategist as well as head of its financials research team Over the previous decade, he covered a series of industries globally, including retail, health care, insurance, banks and brokers, telecom, and information technology In addition, he led many of the firm’s private investments in a range of technology companies, including eHarmony, Trulia, eGain, Avantgo, Astro Gaming, and Uplogix From 1990 to 1992, he was a management consultant with Gemini Consulting and with Bain & Co
He is on the boards of Kurtosys and TheSquareFoot
David obtained an M B A from Stanford University and graduated Cum Laude from Williams College with a B A with Honors in Mathematics He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
David is a Class Agent and Class Secretary for Williams having previously served as Co-Chair of the Williams College Alumni Fund as well as a Head Class Agent He is also a Class Agent for Stanford having previously served as Chair if his 25th Reunion In addition, David serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 55, sponsored by St John the Divine Church in Houston, Texas, where he has run the aquatics and cycling programs
Tyler Peterson joined Triangle Peak Partners in 2014, and currently serves as a Partner on the Technology team At Triangle Peak, Tyler has worked on investments in Heap Analytics, FreightWaves, Nozomi Networks, Nikola Labs, Arcadia, Gradle, Aerospike, Suzy, Directly, Skedulo, LookingGlass, Distil Networks, Bugcrowd, Getaround, D2IQ (fka Mesosphere), AlphaSense, StayNTouch and Sunnova (NYSE:NOVA) He is a board observer for FreightWaves, Getaround, Gradle, Nikola Labs and LookingGlass, and former board observer for StayNTouch, Directly and Distil Networks
Prior to Triangle Peak, Tyler spent seven years at Google working across a variety of products He led growth initiatives for AdWords and AdSense, contributed to the original business models for Google Checkout and Google TV Ads, and formulated monetization strategies for YouTube Additionally, he worked on growth and analytics for Google Maps, Gmail, Book Search and Google+
Tyler graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a BA in Economics and History, and holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson
