What does iCita mean and how do you pronounce it?

iCita is  pronounced eye-SEE-ta It was derived from the name “Cita” given to a pet cat back in 1994 When we needed a name for our new company, the “i” was added because at the time an “i” was being put in front of names of products and services, like the iPod So we became iCita LLC The Cita name came from the word “mamacita” for “little mother” (sometime translated as “hot mother”) We know, it is a round about way of explaining the origin, but it’s true

How have you been in business for over 20 years?

Actually the founder, Thomas Smidt, worked for a few other small web companies in the mid-1990’s But in 2000 while the Vice President of a startup, he decided to start iCita Incidently, the startup Thomas worked at was creating the intelligent core of what would become Expedia, but it closed within days of the 9/11 tragedy (because we were funded by the travel industry) Thus began Mr Smidt’s move to working on iCita full-time We have always had a virtual office environment and have partners and employees around the United States as well as long-time contractors/partners in India and Peru

Why do you use WordPress?

WordPress is an open-source content management system that runs websites that allows a very large degree of functionality to be integrated with it Wordpress powers over 42% of the Internet Plus, we’ve tried them all In the 1990’s we started building websites using just HTML code Then stylesheets came along and with them other cool things like PHP programming language At one point we had to decide between building websites using Microsoft products or using Linux based applications We opted for Linux and PHP, and WordPress runs on PHP Needless to say there were a lot of other content management platforms before WordPress which we used (and some we still support)
